Chipolopolo attacking midfielder Golden Mashata has set his sights on winning the COSAFA Cup in his debut tournament. Mashata has been in fine form for Zambia at the tournament, scoring two goals and providing two assists in four matches. He spoke to FAZ media after Zambia's 2-1 win over South Africa in the semi-final, where he scored a stunning goal. "It is good motivation for me being a debut tournament, scoring two goals and two assists so far," he said. "I am highly motivated." Mashata said that Zambia is aiming to defend its title at the tournament. "We are going for the title. As we spoke earlier that we are coming here to defend the title," he said. "We know what is at stake and our task is to be the champions. We are going to win." Mashata said that making the final is a huge achievement for him and the team. "It is a big achievement for me and the team. We pushed hard for this, and hopefully, we are defending the title," he said. "I dedicate this victory to my mum because she called me and told me I was going to score, son, and you are going to win." Zambia faces Lesotho in the final of the 2023 COSAFA Cup on Sunday.
