Today, was a groundbreaking day as National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President, ANOCA Zone 6 and Africa Judo Union Vice President, Alfred Foloko, along with NOCZ Zambia Board Member and ANOCA Zone 6 Sustainability Member, Susan Dakik, presented gifts to two of the most respected figures in the world of athletics. These gifts were not just mere tokens, but a gesture of gratitude and admiration towards the exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to the sport. The first recipient of this honor was none other than Lord Sebastian COE, the President of World Athletics and an IOC member since 2002. He is known as one of the greatest middle-distance runners in history and has won the 1500m Olympic gold twice, in the 1980 and 1984 Games. Coe's achievements in the sport have been truly exceptional, and his contributions to athletics as an administrator are equally impressive. With his extensive knowledge and experience, Coe has been instrumental in driving the growth and development of athletics across the globe. Secondly, the other recipient of this honor was Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, who is not only the President of NOC Cameroon but also the chair of the ANOCA Development Commission and Confederation of African Athletics President. Malboum's contribution to the sport of athletics in Africa has been immense, and his leadership has played a vital role in developing the sport across the continent. Foloko and Dakik's visit to Ndola, Zambia, was not only to present gifts but also to attend the CAA U18/U20 Championships, which Zambia is hosting. The event has brought together 54 African Athletics Federations that form part of the Confederation of African Athletics. It has provided a platform for these federations to discuss the development of athletics from grassroots to elite competition across the continent. The visit by Foloko and Dakik, along with the presence of such esteemed figures in the world of athletics, has generated a buzz of excitement and anticipation in the athletics community in Zambia. Their gesture of appreciation towards Coe and Malboum has further cemented the importance of strong leadership and dedication in the sport. The event has not only been a celebration of athletics but also a reminder of the transformative power of sports to bring people together and inspire positive change. Photo Credit-NOCZ
