On 13th April 2023, the Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) postponed the Copperbelt Chess League Association (CCLA) Annual Elective General Meeting. The election postponement followed an appeal from Daniel Chifundo Mwanza Snr led team citing irregularities, corrupt practices, breaching CCLA constitution, and engineering of the delegation list among others. The move by the Daniel-led team has been coined as an uppercut jab to the jaw of Joseph Mofya-led team who is an inspiring candidate. CFZ has indicated that they shall call for a stakeholders' meeting where the election playing ground will be fair. The CCLA has thanked CFZ leadership, demonstrating that they are impartial and mean well for chess on the Copperbelt. The elections which were supposed to take place between the 18th and 25th of April, 2023 have been deferred to a later date to be announced by the Federation later this month.
