Samuel Mumba emerged as the 2023 Muchachi Patrons Rapid Chess Champion, securing victory with an impressive 7.5 points out of 9 rounds. He outclassed six opponents, including Sarah Nguni, Mukupa Steven, Chisata Raymond, Allan Kaonga, Kangwa Sampa, and Kasapo Jackson. While he had three draws against Michael Kaoma, Joshua Mukosha, and Ngonga Boniface, his performance was stellar. Allan Kaonga, known as the "handsome savage," secured the second position with 7.5 points, displaying dominance over opponents like Michael Kaoma, Boniface Ngonga, and Joshua Mukosha. Boniface Ngonga also finished with 7.5 points, securing the third position. Joshua Mukosha claimed the fourth position with 6.5 points. Mulenga Geoffrey, Michael Kaoma, Mukupa Steven, and Sinkala Truth all finished with 6 points. The title of "Best madalas" went to the veteran Stephen Mukupa. The title of "Best youngest" was claimed by the Chewe brothers, Chewe Lubuuto and Chewe Malumbo, sons of the tournament's major sponsor and Muchachi chess club patron, Mr. Chewe Michael. The honor of "Most improved chess player" was given to Henry Kanyumbwe, the chairman of Muchachi and Copperbelt League Association Treasurer.
