Zambia is among the four countries being considered to host the 2028 World Chess Olympiad. The President of the Chess Federation of Zambia, Leslie Chikuse, said that Zambia is the only African country being considered. The other countries being considered are Italy, Serbia, and the United Arab Emirates. Zambia was selected because of its tourist sites, with Livingstone set to be the host once the country is chosen. Chikuse believes Zambia is the favorite, especially because it has never hosted the World Chess Olympiad before. He confirmed that they are receiving a lot of support from Europe, Asia, and Africa. The host country will be determined through voting, and the CFZ president hopes that Zambia is given the opportunity, as there is a lot of excitement from other countries wanting to come to Zambia.
