Yesterday and today, the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Zambia (NOC/CGA Zambia) have taken a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of athletes in the country. The NOC/CGA Zambia Board recently approved the Safe Sport Policy and now the Safe Sport Office is conducting an orientation for trained Safe Sport Single Points Of Contact (SPOC) from affiliate national sports federations. The orientation aims to ensure that all SPOCs are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to safeguard athletes from any form of abuse, harassment, or harm. In addition to the orientation, the NOC/CGA Zambia is also conducting an assessment of how far the SPOCs have come in terms of safeguarding within their respective federations. The two-day orientation is being led by NOC/CGA Zambia Safe Sport Officer, Prudence N. Hachitapika, with support from the Safe Sport and Medical Commissions of NOC/CGA Zambia. The sessions cover a wide range of topics, including identifying and reporting abuse, implementing safeguarding policies, and supporting athletes who have been victims of abuse. By prioritizing athlete safety and well-being. The Safe Sport Policy and the orientation for SPOCs demonstrate the NOC/CGA Zambia's commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all athletes, coaches, and officials. The workshop will be coming to an end today as they look forward to yielding a positive impact. Photo Credit-OYDC
