Muzala Samukonga has taken time to reflect on the past consecutive victories that he has scored and extends his gratitude to the coaches who have been behind his success. On a live video that was streamed via his official Facebook on Tuesday, 1st May 2023, Muzala thanked his two coaches for the extreme training and mentorship. "As we celebrate the win and my achievements it will be so selfish of me to not recognize my two Coaches Douglas Kalembo and Cassius Nyendwa for the contribution they have made to my career," Muzala said. Samukonga cited his coaches as having given him the courage to stand in difficult situations and give him the support that he needs. "Some challenging times do come but they keep telling me to keep on training and training and always aim at the finish line and to remember that I am not competing with anyone but instead I'm competing to become better and become the best version of me to achieve it all in the world of athletics," the champion added. The two coaches in question have trained many athletes who have done the most and others are upcoming and it is assumed that the Zambian sport (Athletics) is growing. Coach Douglas has been nurturing talent for a long time with the likes of Sydney Siame, Rhoda Njobvu, Niddy Mingilishi, Kennedy Luchembe, David Mulenga, and Patrick Nyambe among other Athletes. On the other hand, Coach Nyendwa is with the u12/u20 team in the Copperbelt at the CAA where we have seen two athletes already having medals and Thomson Mbewe qualifying for the all-African games in 400m to be held in Ghana next year. This shows the hard work the coaches are putting in to send athletes for competitions and has several medals and further qualifications. "Couch Douglas and Coach Nyendwa You are amazing coaches and I am blessed to have you in my life, your constant motivation and encouragement pushed me to heights I never dreamed of reaching," Muzala narrated.
