Zambia was crowned champion of the three-day Zanaco International Polo tournament with sponsors describing the event as a huge success as of Sunday 7th May, 2023 which marked as day three of the tournament. Zanaco pumped in USD 25, 000 to stage the tournament that saw Zambia defeat Ireland 10-8 in the finals played on Sunday. Zambia fielded three teams namely Zanaco Infinity, Zanaco Platinum, and Zanaco Xapit that competed in the event before the exciting final that attracted several supporters and the Irish community. Zanaco Platinum beat Zanaco Xapit 8-6, Ireland beat Zanaco Platinum 8-5 and Zanaco Xapit beat Zanaco Infinity 8-5. In the main game, Zambia represented by Zanaco Infinity did not disappoint the fans after going from behind to carry the day during the competition that was held at Lilayi Lodge. Zanaco marketing manager, Mrs. Katongo said that for the past two years, the bank has sponsored the Polo International tournament which gave them reasons to sponsor the event next year. Katongo further added that Zanaco's home was Zambia and they had a duty to develop the country not only economically but also through sports. "The teams have done extremely well in the three days and we have been supporting the growth of the sport through various sports disciplines such as our football club and golf of which we shall be hosting the Zanaco Masters next week," She said.
