Special Olympics Zambia
On 6th June 2023, German ambassador Anne Wagner-Mitchell visited Special Olympics Zambia Athletes to show support and encourage them. The ambassador’s visit is a significant gesture of support and encouragement for the athletes who are set to participate in the incoming Special Olympics World Games in Germany. During her visit, ambassador Anne Wagner-Mitchell had the chance to interact with the athletes, coaching staff, and Special Olympics Zambia officials led by the board chairperson, madam Liwewe Mazyanga. The ambassador wished the team the best of luck and a safe trip as they head to the World Games. “I wish you the best of luck as you travel and that you have a great trip and safely come back in two weeks and be able to meet your family and friends and you could tell them the story of what you will have seen and experienced at the games. Wishing you another few days of good preparations and all the best, good luck to all of you.” She said. Special Olympics Zambia board chairperson Madam Liwewe Mazyanga expressed happiness and thanked the ambassador for the time and words of encouragement to the athletes and coaches. Speaking on behalf of the athletes, Veldah Chimama Siamatondo thanked the ambassador for the presence and help rendered to the team. She assured the ambassador that the team will be good citizens in German. “We promise that we will be good citizens where we are going. We are going to come back with medals, and we hope and pray that your help doesn’t just end here, but it should be extended to other programs.” She said. The Special Olympics Zambia athletes are set to participate in the Berlin Special Olympics World Games from 17-25th June 2023, with more than 26 different Sports being showcased.
