7th April 2023, Exodus Boxing Academy hosted a press briefing that was aimed at lifting the face of the academy after being inactive for some months. About K300,000 is needed for the successful hosting of the Lopez punch boxing fight night slated for the Government complex on 10th June 2023. Exodus Boxing Academy Director Christian Kalima has said that the fight was budgeted for K500,000, with K200,000 raised so far. Kalima says three title fights will take place on the night with Simon Ngoma versus Bernard Sepe to headline the night. Speaking during a media briefing, he called on boxing stables and promoters to work together for the growth of the boxing sport, while calling for support from the corporate world. Meanwhile, Muchinga Ward 28 Councillor Lee Mukupa challenged female boxers to emulate 7-time World Champion, Esther Phiri and take the sport as a business. Mukupa further added that said he has engaged the office of the area member of Parliament for support for the bout. Speaking during the same event, 7 times World Champion Esther Phiri was present at the event. Esther encouraged the contestants for the upcoming game at the government complex to stay focused on the sport and avoid unnecessary setbacks. Phiri has therefore encouraged all upcoming female fighters to look up to her as an example and seek help whenever they are in need. Zed Sport
