Education Minister Douglas Siakalima has flagged off the Zambia School Sports Association (ZASSA) Interprovincial competitions at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. About 2,000 under-17 school athletes and chess players are drawn from 10 provinces are taking part in the inter-provincial tournament. And National Sports Council of Zambia Acting general secretary Raphael Mulenga urged the participants to desist from doping to ensure Zambia has a caliber of clean sports. Meanwhile, ZASSA president Mwendelema Macwani is happy that sports in schools have resumed despite the COVID-19 pandemic hitting hard on sporting activities in the recent past. Mwendelema is excited that the association has managed to produce athletes such as Muzala Simukonga, and Rhodah Njobvu among others. She is hopeful that this event will produce more sportsmen and women that will constitute the national team to compete in the Cosassa competition to be hosted by Zambia in the second term of the school calendar.
