Below is a narrated of a sports journalist Linosi Victoria, who is among other stakeholders to get disappointed with Zambia's performance at the ongoing Junior Athletic Championships which is being hosted in Ndola: I usually avoid commenting on issues happening in sports for fear of being misunderstood but athletics is one of the sports that are dear to my heart and I will not just be quiet on this one. As a reporter and lover of athletics, I was looking forward to covering the U18/U20 competition, so that I can witness the birth of new, raw talent like MUZALA SAMUKONGA, but so far I am disappointed. As of day 3 of the U18/U20 CAA Championships, Zambia has only managed to win two silver medals one in 400m and another in 100m. This is despite participating in over 20 events in both U18/U20, with over 100 participants. Many of our athletes were eliminated in the preliminaries, and heat stages of the competition and their performance is getting worse as the competitions go further. Seriously speaking the performance of our team is very disappointing and heartbreaking especially that we’re hosting. The Zambian anthem hasn’t been played not even once since the championships started. South Africa's anthem is the one that has been played many times like they are the ones hosting. It has even ear wormed my mind because it has been played so many times. Our athletes lack even the basics for some events like hurdles. Two of our athletes who were fielded in hurdles were laughingstocks of other participating countries as they could not properly jump. I know if these athletes were prepared adequately we would have been talking about a different story. Photo Credit- Victoria
