Corporate social responsibility is what many companies have taken to support various projects and programs, this time around Athletes have become beneficiaries of such movements. On 2nd June yesterday, retail giants Pep, Pick n Pay, and Zanaco Bank came forward to support Special Olympics Zambia athletes as they prepare to represent the country at the World Games in Germany in a few days from now. The donation was made yesterday and saw the presence of Permanent Secretary PS Sports, Mr. Kangwa Chileshe from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The generous contributions from these companies are set to make a significant impact on the journey of these talented athletes as it financially supports Athletes to achieve their dreams. Pep, a renowned brand known for its commitment to community development, donated a range of essential items worth K12,000 to the Special Olympics Zambia team. The donated items, included tracksuits, sports slippers, bathing towels-shirts, and juice bottles. Furthermore, Pick n Pay, through their country manager Mr. Kamona Mooto, demonstrated their unwavering support by presenting a shopping voucher worth K10,000 to the athletes. This gesture will enable the athletes to obtain the necessary supplies and groceries, ensuring they have everything they need before embarking on their journey to Germany. Zanaco bank also extended their usual gesture by pledging a k20,000 to Special Olympics Zambia. During the donation, Special Olympics Zambia county director Nancy Ntalasha expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Pep and Pick n Pay for their immense generosity during the event. By supporting these athletes, Pep, Zanaco, and Pick n Pay are championing inclusivity and empowering individuals to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Special Olympic athletes are geared for the Berlin World event which will host over 15 nations from 17th to 25th June, 2023.
