The Zambia U-18 who minted Bronze at the Africa Youth Baseball have arrived at Kenneth Kaunda Airport. Before leaving Ghana, the U-18 National Team paid a Courtesy Visit to the High Commission of Zambia in Ghana and interacted with different deliberations. The U-18 squad showcased their skills with an impressive record of 6 wins out of 8 in the Round Robin stage. Although they suffered a defeat against the host country Ghana, they bounced back and emerged victorious against South Africa, securing the third-place finish. While Zambia may not have secured a spot in the World Championships, Ken Matishi, the General Secretary of the Zambia Baseball & Softball Association, remains optimistic about the future. He recognizes the immense potential and talent among the youth throughout the country. Matishi hopes that various institutions will open their doors to support the association, enabling them to develop and nurture talent. The formidable Team Zambia consisted of skilled individuals such as David Kalunga, Sunday Kangongo, Kakumbi Kakumbi, Selina Band, Rita Natanje, Catherine Chitani, Margret Phiri, and Siame Mwelwa with support from coach Kunda Mwila. Host countries Ghana and Tunisia claimed the Gold and Silver Medals, respectively, thereby securing qualification for the World Youth Championships. #Congratulations team Zambia.
