Earlier in the week, Special Olympics announced the formation of the Global Leadership Coalition for Inclusion, a pioneering multilateral effort to support people with intellectual disabilities. For the first time, governments, industries, philanthropy, and the development community have come together with a shared global commitment to increase inclusive practices in education and sport and create more inclusive schools and communities. Some African countries have already subscribed to the global movement to support children with intellectual disabilities. Zambia will soon be signing this agreement as it joins other global communities in promoting sports for youth who have intellectual disabilities.
