Zambia's Copper Queens striker Hellen Chanda is determined to make a strong start at the FIFA Women's World Cup in July. With her sights set on victory in the opening game against Japan, Chanda believes that a win would significantly boost the team's morale. "The Japan game is very important for us," expressed Chanda. "We simply have to secure a victory in the first game because it will provide us with the necessary confidence moving forward. Additionally, it will give us a clearer picture of how to approach the subsequent matches." Chanda also acknowledged the team's recent friendly against Germany as a valuable opportunity to identify weaknesses and address them accordingly. "We have made thorough preparations," she revealed. "In our match against Germany, we identified our mistakes and learned from them. As strikers, we were not capitalizing on our chances, but we have diligently worked on that aspect, as can be observed during our training sessions." Being one of the most experienced players in the Copper Queens squad, Chanda also hopes to utilize the World Cup as a platform to attract the attention of other professional clubs. "On a personal level, I am striving to put in the hard work necessary to secure a transfer to another professional club in my career," Chanda affirmed. Zambia finds itself in Group C alongside Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica. Their World Cup journey will commence with a match against Japan on July 22.
