Copper Queens and Red Arrows midfielder, Susan Banda, has expressed her joy at being back in the Zambian national team set-up and being part of the FIFA Women's World Cup squad currently in New Zealand. After two training sessions at Beetham Park in Hamilton, Banda spoke to FAZ media, stating, "It feels nice after being absent for a long time to be back and straight to the World Cup. It's a good feeling. At some point, I had lost faith that I would be back playing football again. But it's God's plan that I'm back." Despite contemplating giving up, Banda acknowledged that God had other plans, and she is grateful to be back. She emphasized that their goal is to compete and not just participate in the World Cup, assuring their opponents to expect a strong fight. Banda also mentioned the cold weather in New Zealand but remained optimistic about adapting soon. At 33 years old, Banda is the oldest player in the Zambian squad at the World Cup. Since her first appearance in the national team in 2014, she has become a key member and will play an important role in Zambia's first-ever World Cup appearance. Zambia is placed in Group C alongside Japan, Costa Rica, and Spain. They will commence their campaign against Japan on July 22.
