The government of Zambia has reaffirmed its commitment to meeting the medical bills of injured Copper Queens goalkeeper Hazel Nali. Minister of Sports, Youth, and Arts, Hon. Elvis Chishala Nkandu, MP, said a new appointment has been secured for Ms. Nali to undergo a knee injury medical procedure. "The government has taken a further step to arrange an aftercare program in New Zealand for Ms. Nali until she rejoins the Copper Queens and her family," Hon. Nkandu said. He regretted the social media speculation indicating that the government has failed to meet its obligation. "I want to assure the nation that the government is committed to ensuring that Ms. Nali receives the best possible medical care," Hon. Nkandu said. FAZ General Secretary, Mr. Reuben Kamanga, said Ms. Nali is under the appropriate care of FIFA, FAZ, and the government. "We are grateful to the government for expediting Ms. Nali's medical procedure in New Zealand," Mr. Kamanga said. He said it would be an infringement on FIFA statutes for any agent to interfere with players in the camp. "We urge the public to disregard any information to the contrary," Mr. Kamanga said. The statement has been issued by Charles Mucholo, First Secretary Press and Public Relations, Zambia High Commission to Australia and New Zealand.
