The Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) is expressing confidence in Chitumbo Mwali's abilities as he heads to the 2023 World Cup, set to commence this weekend. CFZ President, Leslie Chikuse, believes that Mwali, Zambia's sole representative at the event, possesses the skills to compete with some of the sport's finest players for the World title. Mwali will proudly carry Zambia's banner at the Chess World Cup, which will be held from July 30th to August 24th in Azerbaijan. Additionally, international arbiter Chanda Nsakanya will be the sole African official overseeing the tournament. Chikuse informed the media that both Mwali and Nsakanya were scheduled to depart for Azerbaijan on Friday, 29th July 2023.
