The Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) commends the significant strides made by various sports federations in clinching medals, all thanks to the United Party of National Development (UPND) government's steadfast commitment to considering each sport as a viable career option for athletes. In a recent interview coinciding with the UPND government's second anniversary celebration, Leslie Chikuse, the president of CFZ, highlighted the game-changing support extended by the present government. Chikuse pointed out that chess, among other sports, had reaped the rewards of the administration's benevolence. "The pivotal role played by Republican President Hakainde Hichilema cannot be understated in fostering a conducive environment where all sports federations thrive. This government doesn't discriminate between small and large sports; instead, it regards sports not just for entertainment but as a potential career path and a means of livelihood for athletes," he emphasized. Chikuse further commended President Hichilema for laying the foundation of sport sponsorship and bolstering support by engaging with numerous associations, a move that has been instrumental in uplifting the sports landscape in Zambia.
