Over 700 Athletes from 47 countries have arrived in the country ahead of the African Athletics Junior Championship that commences this weekend. 25th April 2023, Zambia Athletics (ZAA) President, Elias Mpondela said that the Athletes are in Ndola as they build up to the start of the Championships that will run from April 29th to 3rd May 2023, at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium. In an interview with ZNBC, Mpondela said that adequate accommodation has been provided with Ndola and Kitwe districts set to house the athletes. Elias further added that Zambia will be backing incumbent President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Hamad Kalkaba, to return his seat during the Congress meeting which will also be an elective Annual General meeting. The CAA Congress began today, 26th April, and will run up to the 27th in Lusaka in Preparation for the CAA games in Ndola stadium which are scheduled to start this Saturday, 29th April.
