The government will give incentives to athletes that will reap medals during the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Under-18and Under-20 Championship starting next week at Levy Mwanavwasa Stadium in Ndola. Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts Elvis Nkandu said in an interview yesterday that it is Government's policy to reward athletes that excel at international competitions. Nkandu said incentives are meant to motivate athletes to do their best and for them to earn a living. "Of course, those that will perform will be rewarded, that 1st Our policy as Government. We want the athletes to put in their best and also for them to earn a living using their talent," He said. Nkandu further encouraged the runners that will represent the country to put in their best and do Zambia proud. The minister said preparations for hosting the continental championship are progressing well. "All the machines that are needed for us to host the successful competition are in. We have managed to secure accommodation for everyone and all we are waiting, for now, is the Championship kick-off," Nkandu added.
