16th May 2023, OYDC Zambia Sports Development Centre director Fredrick Chitangala says they are committed to uplifting facilities in a bid to ensure athletes continue honing their talent. Chitangala said in the next few weeks, the center will receive a floor which will be put up in the multipurpose hall. He said the renovation will be done through the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ). NOCZ is among other national Olympic committees in the the region selected to benefit from a sponsorship agreement signed between the Association of National Olympic Committees in Africa and Gerflor, a leading renowned flooring company. Chitangala was speaking in Lusaka on Tuesday when Coen Teulings, sponsor of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, toured the facility. Teulings, who has supported the Youth Sports Challenge for the last 12 years, also interacted with athletes and talked about different issues in the sports arena. Teulings, chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium, said it is motivating to see some talented athletes allowed to develop their talent. He expressed satisfaction at what he saw, saying programs being run under the Teulings Youth Challenge represents the original concept that he had about the project, which gives young people to compete in sport.
