Emerging talents, JORDAN MWALE and MAGGIE KABANSHI, exhibited outstanding performances as they clinched victory in the 2023 Love-40 Top-Eight Tennis Championship's Under-20 boys' and girls' categories, respectively, held over the weekend in Mufulira. Zambian National Service (ZNS) player JORDAN MWALE triumphed in the boys' division, securing the title with a flawless performance. He defeated Hamayungwe Nakalanga of the Zambia Army in a swift two-set match, achieving a scoreline of 7-6, 6-3. Prior to his victory, MWALE silenced Maxwell Nkhata with a 2-0 win (6-1, 6-3) in the quarter-finals and proceeded to eliminate Chileshe Mwansa of Mufulira with another 2-0 win (6-1, 6-3) in the semi-finals. Nakalanga earned a walkover against Kondwani Banda and stunned top seed Jonathan Simukonda with a resilient 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 victory. On the girls' side, MAGGIE KABANSHI emerged triumphant in the standings with six points after a round-robin format involving three players. Representing Kantanshi, KABANSHI secured a 2-0 victory against Faith Delic of Nkana and bested Febby Chilembo of Chililabombwe. Chilembo managed to secure silver, while Delic claimed the bronze medal. In the boys' under-18 category, RICHARD SIMBAYA secured the title by defeating Grant Banda with a final score of 6-3, 6-3. Simbaya's path to victory involved victories over Isaac Chichima and Fred Mwanza of Nkana in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively. Meanwhile, Grant Banda overcame challenges from Daniel Bowa and Albert Nawa to secure his spot in the final. The girls' under-18 title was claimed by MARGRET CHEWE of Mufulira, who dominated the final against Natasha Nalungwe of Kantanshi with a score of 6-2, 6-0. In other categories, JUSTINE CHANDA of Mufulira triumphed in the boys' under-16 division by defeating McMillan Chishala of Nkana. The girls' under-16 title was secured by CHRISTABEL CHISONGO, who overcame her twin sister Isabel in a closely contested match with a score of 2-0 (7-5, 7-5). EMMANUEL SIMFUKWE emerged as the victor in the boys' under-14 category after defeating Kombe Mabo Jr with a scoreline of 2-1 (2-6, 7-6, 10-3). The girls' under-14 crown was claimed by BLESSINGS NGULUBE, who overcame Mukangwa with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 10-5. In the boys' under-12 division, MAPALO MULENGA secured the title by breezing past Elijah Kalunga with a score of 6-0, 6-3. The girls' under-12 accolade was earned by KAYLA MUIMO, who defeated Ntiba Lungu with a score of 2-0 (6-1, 6-0).
