The Zambia Diaspora Organisation (ZDO) and Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts are set to host an inaugural sports expo and forum in August this year. In an interview yesterday, ZDO president Ferdinand Simaanya said that the purpose of hosting the event which is set for 25-26th August 2023, in Lusaka is to bring together sports and business officials to showcase potential opportunities for partnerships, and collaboration as well as exhibit sports products and services. Simaanya said the sports expo and forum, which will be held in Collaboration with the Government, is aligned with the outcomes of the 2022 Zambia Diaspora Conference, which was opened by President Hakainde Hichilema in Livingstone. He said in a bid to engage top national leadership, the organizing committee, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, has extended the invitation to President Hichilema to be the guest of honor. The expo will bring together sports and non-sport stakeholders such as the Government, national sports organizations, banks and financial service providers, airlines, hotels and lodges, manufacturers, and institutions of learning among others. Simaarnya said the local organizing committee is co-chaired by the Ministry of Youth. Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe and himself have been constituted to ensure the effective delivery of key activities and milestones.
