Copper Queens assistant coach Florence Mwila has said that the team is ready to face any opponent in the COSAFA semifinal after booking a place in the last four with a 5-1 win over Comoros. Zambia will face either Zimbabwe or Botswana in the semifinals, with Malawi taking on Mozambique in the other fixture. "We are ready to face anyone. Looking at the schedule, it's either Botswana or Zimbabwe. We are ready to face anyone," Mwila said. Zambia made a slow start to their title defense, drawing 0-0 with Mozambique in their opening fixture. However, they gained momentum in their second fixture with a comfortable 3-1 win over Angola before Tuesday's impressive 5-1 win over Comoros. Speaking in a post-match interview, Mwila said that her team had underestimated their opponents in the first half, which resulted in a 1-1 scoreline at halftime. However, they came back stronger in the second half after understanding the task ahead of them. "Going into the semifinals, we have seen areas of weakness that we need to address because the teams we are going to face will be tough. We have to go in stronger," she said. Mwila also said that qualifying for the semifinals was a significant achievement for Zambia, being the defending champions. "It's important because it would have been embarrassing for the defending champions to be out in the group stages. So we knew we had to push and push because we know why we are here: to defend the title and win games. Because you can only defend the title when you win games," she said.
