IVY Kanchele says that she is happy to be the first winner of the inaugural Scrabble Women's Championship after outsmarting 79 players. The tournament held at East Park Mall on Saturday, 15th April 2023, in Lusaka, was aimed at raising awareness- ness of the sport to increase women's participation. Kanchele, who finished the event on four points having won all four games to walk away with K5, 000 said she was happy to have won the competitive event and that her next goal will be next month's championship. "I am happy to have won the event, I had my fears when I looked at the number of women turnout. I wish more women out there can rise to join this exciting game," Ivy added. The event was organized by Learnteract Scrabble Academy in conjunction with NOWSPAR will ensure that more women take part in the sport.
