Zambian Boxer, Stephen Zimba has been eliminated by Jose Rodriquez of Ecuador 4-1 on a unanimous point decision to progress to the next round of the 2023 IBA World Boxing Championships which are currently ongoing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Zambia is being represented by a three-member team at the championships with the other two being flyweight boxers of Patrick Chinyemba and Andrew Chilala. Lightweight Boxer Andrew Chilata, slides to the quarter-finals at the ongoing International Boxing Association (IBA) World Championship in Uzbekistan due to his opponent's failure to the game. Chilata whose first-round opponent did not show up will however face the winner between Mckhak Ghazaryan of Armenia and Ntungiyebose M of Burundi in a quarter-final bout. The competition that is ongoing will also act as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The IBA Championship is ongoing and more fighters are looking forward to winning the remaining matches.
