The Zambia Judo Association (JAZ) has been nominated for the Judo for Peace Award, a recognition attributed to its remarkable transborder program, a steadfast initiative within Zambian refugee camps. The Judo for Peace program, designed to utilize Judo as a platform for communities to converge and collaborate, focuses on enhancing social cohesion, youth and gender empowerment, as well as child protection across both local and refugee communities in Zambia and globally. The Zambia Judo for Peace has expanded its reach to include Dzaleka and Tongogara Refugee camps in Malawi and Zimbabwe, and the Association is now the leading and coordinating body for the Regional Judo For Peace Program in these regions. JAZ considers this development as one of its paramount achievements. Among the distinguished nominees standing alongside JAZ are Judo for Peace South Africa, Judo for Peace Kenya, and Judo for Peace Turkiye.
