The Zambia Judo Association is hopeful that the Japanese ambassador's national annual camp will expose coaches to a broader pool of new judokas in preparation for various regional championships. According to the Association Secretary General, having more judokas participating in international competitions is crucial for Zambia's qualification in major championships. Nguni notes that the annual camp, with over 300 judokas in attendance, is highly competitive. Gabriel Hamwengu, the winner of the 100kg category, attributed his victory to exploiting his opponent's weaknesses. In addition to the senior men and women categories, the 300+ judokas come from various clubs across the country to partake in the highly competitive competition, as described by the Zambia Judo Association. Furthermore, preparations are underway for the regional games in Namibia and the All-Africa Games in Ghana, with plans to set up a gym for these events. This platform ensures that the technical staff has a diverse pool of judokas to choose from.
