In the upcoming 2023 National Women's Championship, over 200 female Judokas hailing from eight different clubs are set to compete in Lusaka next week. Mabvuto Nguni, the General Secretary of the Zambia Judo Association, emphasised that this championship's primary objective is to unite girls and women from diverse backgrounds, fostering empowerment and skill enhancement within the sport. Nguni said that this event forms an integral part of the Association's broader mission to educate and empower women, enabling them to assume more significant roles in society. He believes that Judo, as a discipline, possesses the potential to drive positive change among women from various segments of society, instilling the confidence required to confront life's challenges. Furthermore, Nguni notes that the Championship also seeks to provide young girls with opportunities to receive training in the sport, ultimately preparing them to represent the country at major tournaments in the future.
