Zambia Judo Association, led by President Alfred Foloko, has echoed their dedication to fostering women and girls' involvement in sports, particularly through the annual Judo Women's Championship. The aim is to address the current gender gap in high-level judo competitions. This initiative aligns with preparations for the 2024 All-African Games in Ghana. Katongo Bwalya, Chairperson of the National Organization for Women in Sports, Physical Activity and Recreation, commended the Association for prioritizing women's participation. The 2023 Women's Judo Camp, with over 100 participants from five clubs, emphasizes values like patience, motivation, and inclusivity. President Alfred Foloko reiterated the Association's commitment to elevating women in judo. NOWSPAR expresses support for such initiatives, having sponsored four female coaches this year. Rita Kawinda, a judoka, sees the competition as an opportunity to attract coaches for inclusion in the women's team for the upcoming Ghana event, reinforcing the focus on preparations for the 2024 Games.
