Around 40 cyclists from Red Arrows and Livingstone Cycling Clubs have embarked on a remarkable 485km, three-day journey from Livingstone to Lusaka, aiming to raise awareness about cancer and diabetes through an awe-inspiring cycling experience. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held in the tourist capital yesterday, Livingstone Mayor Constance Muleabai emphasized the necessity for united efforts in combating cancer and diabetes. She applauded the two cycling clubs for exemplifying how all citizens could contribute to these crucial awareness campaigns. Mayor Muleabai stressed that every individual had a significant role to play in not only increasing awareness about cancer and diabetes but also adopting healthy lifestyles that would mitigate the risks associated with these diseases. She highlighted that a decrease in the prevalence of cancer and diabetes cases would not only save lives but also alleviate the burden on the healthcare system. In a display of solidarity, she noted, "No one is bigger than Nchanga Rangers, no player, not even me - we all serve the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Livingstone." Mayor Muleabai highlighted that the initiative to support cancer and diabetes awareness was a collective endeavor, driven by the Zambia Air Force's commitment. Furthermore, the event served as a solemn remembrance for those who had lost their lives to these diseases. It was an occasion to honor their memory and reiterate the importance of continued efforts in the fight against cancer and diabetes. Mayor Muleabai expressed gratitude to the Air Force Command for organizing the event, utilizing Livingstone as the starting point for this monumental journey that coincided with the city's celebration of its second anniversary. The cycling expedition stands as a remarkable demonstration of unity and commitment towards raising awareness about cancer and diabetes in Zambia.
