The Red Arrows Cycling Club (RACC) and Livingstone Cycling Club achieved a remarkable feat by cycling from Livingstone to Lusaka over three days, raising awareness about cancer and diabetes. At Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Headquarters, Brig Gen Justine K Banda, speaking on behalf of ZAF Commander Lt Gen Colin Barry, commended the cyclists for their initiative. He stressed the importance of awareness in preventing and detecting these diseases early, ultimately saving lives. He also pledged ongoing support from ZAF Command, as this event was initiated in memory of the late Maj Gen Kapotwe Chintu, who lost his battle with cancer in 2019. Brig Gen Banda encouraged ZAF personnel to lead healthy lives and undergo regular medical check-ups. Brig Gen Kamima Nyirenda highlighted ZAF's commitment to contributing to the country's social and economic development through sports, emphasizing that sports have the potential to improve the lives of young people and their families. Chairman of the Red Arrows Cycling Club, Lt Col Bruce Milunga, expressed gratitude to ZAF Command and partners for their unwavering support. He commended the cyclists for spreading awareness during their journey, distributing flyers, and educating the public about the diseases' signs and symptoms. He particularly praised Vanessa, a young female cyclist recently representing the club in Trinidad and Tobago, and a 13-year-old boy who participated in the 45-member cycling team from Livingstone to Lusaka. This event is making a significant impact on raising awareness and promoting healthier lifestyles.
